Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope you like my new look, I needed a change from black. Here you can share my miniature endeavours, perhaps be inspired by some of my photographs taken in France and of 'real world' treasures that can be made in miniature. My love of parterre-style gardens and study of horticulture made my decision for the theme of my little shop an easy one. I just hope I can successfully interpret my ideas in 1/12th scale!

Watching from the Sidelines

This is my beautiful boy who has been in boarding with a foster carer for a few weeks (I look a little like a mad woman!). Unfortunately he was a bit naughty and the carer had to return him to board with the RSPCA. We can't wait to get our babies back with us.
I may not have posted for some time and have been unable to do any mini making, but I have been occasionally looking at your wonderful blogs from the sidelines, for inspiration.

It has not been a good year for me, with searching for a new place to park ourselves (my partner Brad and our babies, Ollie the cocker spaniel and Puddles the cat), then in May the bad news that I was sort of expecting, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I can only say girls, please don't miss your all-important check-ups,  I hadn't realised it had been about five years since I'd had my last.

It was five months between seeing my GP and getting the diagnosis, but I must say I feel so fortunate to have received treatment at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital. The treatments are the latest available and the doctors and nursing staff are the best anyone could hope for. The radiation oncologist was most encouraging when he told me my particular cancer was curable. I underwent five weeks of chemo-radiation, and have just had my first brachytherapy treatment this week, another to go next week. Not the most dignified of procedures to go through, but made tolerable by the great support of staff and of course family and friends.

If any of you have gone through this or have been diagnosed, I would love to hear from you.

I hope to be settled soon and able to get back into mini making.

As usual,
A bientot!

All my best wishes.
I think it is very good of you to talk about your cancer and to remind us all not to forget to have regular examinations.
I hope reading our blogs will help you to keep a good moral, which is apparently very important when sick.
Bon courage!

Margaret, I am so sorry to hear of your illness, but also glad that the treatment has been successful. I hope that you get everything sorted out with your babies soon and get back into your minis.

Best wishes.

You poor thing. Checks are so important and so easily overlooked in the busy lives we lead. Thank goodness you did ultimately get it done and it was treatable. Not a nice time for you though.

Some years ago I had a positive result with precancerous cells which was very easily treated with surgery, then 6 monthly and annual checks thereafter. This year it was melanoma for me but again I was extremely lucky to have it caught early, so it's just a case of being diligent about skin checks as well.

I hope you bounce back quickly. :)

So very sorry to hear this. I am doing blog wondering this morning and came upon yours. What a lovely picture of you and your dog. The expression on his face is priceless. It could mean so many things. He's sad, he's fed up, he's been caught doing something naughty. He's absolutely adorable. I would love to give him a big hug. I can't get over how sweet he looks. As for your recent cross that you have had to bear, I will pray for you, Margaret. Please keep your chin up. You are a brave woman. And, yes, it's so very important for women to get their yearly checkups! I hope your experience will be a wake up call for some of those who have been neglecting it. I just want to add that you are so very pretty and I love your hairstyle. It suits you to perfection!

Hello Margaret, here I am too.
Now I know that when someone disappears from the blog, is never a good news, always bad ... So I stopped asking questions. I wait and pray...
Now that I know about you, I can better focus all my prayers :-)
Our shared passion for miniatures makes us women patients and able to appreciate the little progress everyday, so you a head start!
I am glad you are in the hands of doctors trained and can take advantage of advanced medical technology ...
Now we have to look ahead :-)
As I said, here I am and I hope to see soon some mini work.
Flora
P.S. You entered "honorary" to give away my :-)

Hello Margaret, when I came to read this post, I have not had the courage to leave a message, because cancer is a terrible disease, and I'm scared ... I could not find the right words to encourage you, forgive me!
but from time to time, I came to see if there were any updates ... I wondered how you were in recent months, and if the care you received, make you feel good.
now that I read your last comment I'm glad, it means that things are getting better!
I hope to see you soon on the blog, with good health and renewed enthusiasm for the minis!
I embrace you strong!
Caterina

So bad news!
But please be strong, be optimistic! My Hubby has had cancer too, this year was very bad for us also and since 3 weeks we know that the
chemotherapy and radiotherapy have work for him. Thank God!
All my thoughts are with you!!
Big hugs,

Hi Margaret - stumbled onto your site whilst searching for french things - so that's what you've been up to since Express days - and still haunting auctions and flea markets - remember how we used to compare notes?
Shocked to hear of your encounter with cancer but pleased to hear you caught it in time - all the best, Natasha :)
