But not in 'that' way, I have been experimenting with some darker pieces of furniture and I really like the look, what do you think? At least they would suit some rooms. I have almost finished this dresser, another of the kits I have. It is a dark, midnight blue with some distressing. I haven't put anything in the doors yet - glass or wire - I cannot decide. And I think it needs metal handles, antique style, to lift it a little. I just placed a few bits and pieces on the shelves to see what it would look like filled. I would love your opinions.
A big welcome to all new followers and visitors, I certainly enjoy seeing what everyone is doing, even if I don't always comment.
A bientot!
Margaret
Margaret, I adore it, absolutely adore it! It's dark, it's rich. I am so tired of seeing pale things, you have no idea. This piece really stands out. It absolutely has that Wow factor and it makes the patterns on the dishes so much more discernible.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful piece Margaret! Specially in this colour. I am sure it will find a new home soon, after you finish it.:):)

Dear Margaret,
ReplyDeletePersonally I like glass better than wire.
As you said yourself maybe brass handles antique style.
It's a beautiful cupboard.
Greetings Dorien
I think it's great. I love also the black. Maybe something, white into the cabinet as a counterweight.

Hello Margaret, your work is beautiful as usual! I LOVE this dark color, because it is my favorite: midnight blue :D!!!

I really like it, very sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I really think that the dark wood is a great choice and is superb with the blue. Lovely. IndyPoppy
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for taking the time to comment, I think it is good to have some variety in furniture colour too. Must look for handles and finish it off.
ReplyDeleteIn my 'real life' house, I have a lot of white-painted furniture, but found that a few dark pieces here and there help 'ground' the room. Your dresser is ab fab!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it. I'm already eyeing some dramatic dark pieces for a future house, despite being a fraction of the way into my current project!
ReplyDeleteYour dresser has personality, I really like it! The slightly lighter blue interior lifts it and gives it body. IMHO it would be shame to hide that behind doors. Not sure if you meant solid doors, but if that's the case, i'd say no. If it's a choice between glass r wire i'd say glass :)
ReplyDeleteI really love how you improve and paint your furniture Margaret. I will try and re-upholster some myself soon because I have been inspired by you!
