It has been a while but I have been trying to follow most of your posts which I enjoy immensely and thought I would show my new 'old' French bed. I have just placed a couple of plain pillows and an antique handkerchief over it to resemble bedding while I decide how I should dress this one. I have painted it an old, creamy grey colour with 'chipped' gilding on the embellishments. It will go into my etsy shop when finished.
I hope everyone in the northern hemisphere is enjoying a fabulous summer, it has only been chilly here during July in my opinion, and will start to warm up again next month. I look forward to Spring!
A bientot!
Hi Margaret! This bed is utterly French! The lightweight bed linen is perfect for the dreaminess of the frame and you have managed to make it look like someone has only reluctantly climbed out of it. The entire picture is one of cool and lazy days. Beautiful work!

Thank you Elizabeth, it does look slept in, however I will be making more bedding for it when I decide what look I am after.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Margaret! It's not till you actually think of the scale that you realise how clever it is - getting the fabric to look like that and stay in place without looking forced or glued is a real gift! Well done.

I love the look of a 'slept in' bed. The fabric drapes over it so beautifully. I really like that grey too. Gorgeous =0)
ReplyDeleteCe lit est superbe!! très réussi!

Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteThe bed is just stunning! I don't know what kind of look you want for the bedding, but I think the crisp white linens really look beautiful on the bed.
I can't wait to see what you create.
Big hug,
Giac

ReplyDeleteHi Margaret! This bed is beautiful AND very French ;)! I can imagine that you have to take your time for this bed. Sometimes we will need some good inspiration and just the right moment for working on miniatures. So I wish you lots of inspiration and creativity for making a new treasure of this miniature bed :D!
